Dead Space 2 receives strong reviews

With a marketing campaign that coins the phrase “your mom hates this,” the Dead Space franchise is back.

According to IGN.com, Dead Space 2 is a great game, receiving a 9 out of a possible 10. Visceral Games mixes rewarding combat, shocking enemies and huge set pieces make it a memorable survival and horror game.

The events of Dead Space 2 are set three years after its predecessor, with protagonist Isaac Clarke fighting for his life from the outbreak of reanimated corpses called Necromorphs.

“Dead Space 2 is pretty much the best haunted house attraction ever. Visceral stripped out the stuff that slowed down the original game [backtracking, getting disoriented, etc.] and ended up with a fast-paced game that’s suspenseful and scary at the same time,” according to IGN.

Newegg is offering the game on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles at a discounted price.

Dead Space 2 is one of the most controversial and hottest games in a market that has exploded in the past decade. The video industry boomed in the early 2000s and reached more than $50 billion worldwide in 2008.
